Sat. Dec 12th 2009
On Sat Dec. 12, 2009 the members of WVFC celebrated the Holiday Season with our Annual Banquet and Awards night at the Clarion in Ocean City. Members gathered and good stories and good times were shared by all. The Ladies Aux. presented their service pins to members with Thelma Lewis receiving her 35yr Pin!
Jay Esham was recognized by the company for the 2nd consecutive year for efforts and commitment to the new building construction. He put in countless hours meeting with the General Contractor, the Construction Foreman, Sub Contractors and The Farmers Bank of Willards and constantly kept the Building Committee and the general membership informed and up to date on the status of the project.
It was a busy night for Kyle Gray. First he was recognized by EMS Capt. Betty for his commitment to EMS this year. He obtained his EMT-B, provided outstanding patient care and drove on many occasions. He was then recognized by the Chief Officers for his tireless efforts and willingness to take on any task both on the fire scene and at the fire station. He was not done yet as he the received the infamous "Pink Hat" award from the prior years precipitant Chief Dale White. Its often said that the only way to do damage to something is for you to be doing something and by judging from all Kyle's mishaps throughout the year, he was definitely busy doing something in 2009.
The members then received service pins and Rings. A plaque was presented to Mrs. Debbie Patey in recognition of her husband, Mr. Ronnie Patey, who passed away in 2009 with 43 continuous active years of Service to the WVFC.
The night conclude with a slide show highlighting our past as well as events from the past year.
